Chicken Kitchen Hours

This is what I like to call “eating for sustenance.” There's very little excitement surrounding going out for a Chop-Chop at Chicken Kitchen. It's a plate of grilled chicken on a bed of rice and beans with some lettuce and tomato. That's it. This will run between $6-7 for the regular portion. By far, the best part of any lunch here is the actual chicken. It's simply seasoned, and they do a nice job of grilling it. It's then chopped into little bite-size squares. What's lame is that all the Chop-Chops come standard with that gross cheap yellow rice that gets its color from FD&C Yellow #5 and FD&C Red #3. I know full well that the Chicken Kitchen isn't making yellow rice from scratch, lovingly coloring it with turmeric and saffron. Thankfully, brown rice is offered as an option, one I always choose. It costs about a dollar extra in total, which I typically find to be an insulting ticky-tack upcharge. I would understand charging more, if you're offering me something like Himalayan Red rice, that would be justifiable. But you're not. You're offering me the cheapest low-grade brown rice that you buy in bulk. I only eat here when I'm in dire need of a change of lunchtime scenery.

My Colombian friend has a chicken problem. He seeks out chicken and plantains at least twice per week. Sometimes he has that for lunch three times in the same week. And being a good friend, I tag along a few times each month. We are frequent patrons of the Miracle Mile Chicken Kitchen. I stick to the salad (drenched in the curry mustard sauce). My friend gets the Chop Chop and a side of plantains. He then pours a cup of curry mustard over the top. The food is consistently good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And if you eat lunch at 11:30 am (like my friend), you can easily find am empty table. Wait until after noon and it might be full. This location is very popular!

Not being much of a fast foodie we came here based on our daughter's suggestion. Right up the street from her and I had ate at this chain years ago but forgot about how good they are. It was this past Saturday evening at 9:20pm and they stay open until 10pm. As soon as we walked in like four staff members greeted us, they were super friendly. Daughter ordered a chop chop and not only did she really enjoy it but I tasted it and wow was it good. Hubs and I ordered an incredible special that they had for the night. A whole chicken white meat only with two large sides for $8.99. Wow what a deal. My husband asked for a leg because I am a leg girl and they said sure no problem. We get our food and I can not even tell you how much chicken was in there because we had it for lunch yesterday there was so much left over. The mashed potatoes were OK and the slaw was good. The chicken is very tasty especially the skin, great seasoning and very moist. My daughter's chop bowl was so fresh and good. I especially liked the rice as I am picky with rice. What a great place with such good food, good service, and one heck of a great deal. I will so be back again for another fabulous meal.

Called at 12 noon to place an order for delivery since I had received a flyer with a coupon for 15% off. I called 5 times. The first 4 I got either a busy signal, or it kept ringing until I got the tone for disconnected call. I finally got through to someone and was put on hold (they put down the phone on the counter while taking another order). Once my order was placed I was told 45 min delivery time so I said thank you and waited. After an hour and 10 minutes, I called to politely check on the status. I was told that due to a big lunch rush, my delivery was delayed and the food was still sitting at the store; however, it would be leaving with the next set of deliveries. It is now 1:45 and still no sign of the delivery driver. In Miami, I'm used to dealing with restaurants that are so popular and busy that you have to wait sometimes, but chicken kitchen is doing it ALL wrong. If the phones get busy due to lunch rush, get more phone lines or invest in a system that you can place callers on a professional hold. If there are too many deliveries on a lunch rush, call in more drivers. It's completely unacceptable that I am soon approaching TWO HOURS waiting on delivery of 3 bowls of (now very cold) rice and chicken from a store that is 0.7 miles away from my office.

These people are crooks!! They stopped giving bread with their dishes. (It is now only if you ask for it.) The prices are the same as every other chicken kitchen in town. And you get a pitta with your meal there. On top of it they nickel and dime you all the way, there are charges for sauces, tomatoes, and every other request you might have. I love chicken kitchen, just stay away from this one!!!!

I love chicken chop chop, and Chicken Kitchen is the place that turned chop chop into a commercial success. I get the Deluxe CHOP-CHOP® (freshly grilled chopped breast with lettuce & tomatoes served over yellow rice) and throw in a bunch of the delicious Mustard'n Curry™ for a flavorful, quick feast. Seriously, I wish they would expand the chain outside of Florida, Colorado, and Texas because I really think it would do well in Madison.
